Dee Dee Thai Food
Tucked away on High Street in Chipping Barnet, Dee Dee Thai Food is the kind of spot you stumble upon once-and then keep coming back to. It’s not flashy, but it doesn’t need to be. This is where Thai flavors do all the talking, from bold curries to crisp, delicate salads, all presented with that comforting homemade touch.
Walk in and you’ll feel the familiar hum of a local favorite. Whether you’re dining solo or grabbing a quick bite between meetings, there’s something incredibly welcoming about the place. The interior is cozy and unpretentious, with a dining layout that makes it equally suited for an informal lunch or a relaxed dinner. If you're more the stay-at-home type, their no-contact delivery and takeaway options are smooth and reliable.
Now let’s talk about the food-because Dee Dee Thai Food doesn’t play around when it comes to flavor. One bite into the Pad Thai, and it’s easy to understand why it’s a fan favorite. The noodles are springy, the tamarind sauce is perfectly balanced between sweet and tangy, and there’s that subtle crunch of peanuts that brings it all together. Pair it with their Papaya Salad if you want a bit of zing to brighten things up-it's sharp, fresh, and just the right amount of spicy.
Their Massaman Curry is another must-try. Slow-cooked until the beef is melt-in-your-mouth tender, this dish is rich, slightly sweet, and full of warming spices. For something with a little kick, go for the Tom Yum Soup. The broth is fragrant with lemongrass and lime leaves, delivering a citrusy punch that’s hard to forget.
If you're in the mood for finger food, the Thai Fish Cakes are a solid bet-crispy on the outside, soft and aromatic on the inside. They also do an excellent Chicken and Cashew Nut Stir Fry, loaded with roasted nuts, bell peppers, and chicken tossed in a savory soy-based sauce that feels both familiar and exciting.
Looking for something lighter? The Mango Salad and Cucumber Salad offer that refreshing contrast, with just enough acidity and crunch to reset your palate. There are vegan and vegetarian options too, and the menu labels them clearly, so plant-based diners won’t have to guess.
One underrated gem here is the Crab Fried Rice-simple, but incredibly flavorful. It's the kind of dish you order as a side and then find yourself defending from your dining companions. And don’t overlook the Green Curry with Rice-smooth, creamy, and loaded with veggies and your choice of protein, it’s a comfort dish with serious soul.
Thirsty? They serve Thai iced tea, a selection of wine, and even small plate pairings if you’re just in the mood to snack. If you want to explore beyond traditional Thai, they’ve also added dishes like Chow Mein and Soba noodles-still Asian-inspired, but with a twist that keeps the menu playful.
Service is fast and friendly, with staff who actually know the menu and can make real recommendations. It’s also worth noting that Dee Dee Thai Food is a great choice for both lunch breaks and evening meals. It’s especially popular during dinner hours, but even when it’s busy, you don’t feel rushed.
There’s a certain casual magic about this place-it doesn’t try too hard, and that’s exactly why it works. Whether you’re after a spicy red curry, a hearty bowl of beef soup, or crispy fried spring rolls dipped in plum sauce, there’s no shortage of flavor-packed choices waiting for you here.

Lovely, yummy, authentic and fresh Thai food. Clean ingredients that speak of good choice in produce and care for the food served. The staff were super lovely, attentive and sweet. Highly recommend
Fantastic! Really stellar food, extremely pleasant staff! A lovely quiet ambience and very pleasing décor. Very highly recommended if you're after a delicious Thai or Asian meal!
Just ordered from here for the first time, I'm very picky as I just returned from Thailand. I've tried about 5-6 different Thai restaurants which don't match the taste or food quality as in Thailand. This place however, has the best authentic tasting food so far. The fact that they import some ingredients from Thailand makes it perfect. I bought the panang curry, im yet to try their Spicy basil as that's another Thailand favourite and I will be trying that soon. Amazing food
This is my first time going to this restaurant. To be honest, It really deserves 5 stars. I have been to Thailand. The foods I had here is authentic, absolutely delicious, and delivered me the same taste and vibe I had in Thailand. The service and the atmosphere are also perfect. Especially, Abinass is really kind, always smiling, and helpful. He informed me that the food is being prepared and will be served shortly. As they prepare the food very well, you may need to be patient and wait, so that you can enjoy the scrumptious food. Never mind, I did enjoy going there and will definitely go there again. Lovely note from Chris
Wonderful service and good food. We went for my dad's birthday, they had arranged a little birthday decoration which was a lovely touch. The food was good. The starters were better than the main. We had the salt and pepper tofu which was wonderfully crisp on the outside and lovely and soft on the inside. Duck spring rolls were also delicious. My partner had the soft shell crab and said it was also excellent The restaurant was quiet but don't let that put you off. The food is great and well worth a visit.
